Over the years NCF members have had enormous success in winning both national and international individual and team titles.

However, NCF’s mission is to enable every member to reach his or her potential and to make this achievement as satisfying and enriching as possible. For some, this means winning as many fencing titles as possible, for others it means enrichment through recreational fencing.

Is Fencing Safe?

Yes! Fencing is a safe, lifelong sport - said to be safer than golf. This may seem odd, given the sport's origins, but modern fencing equipment and rules ensure that injuries are limited to the occasional bruised arm or ego.

Proper gear is provided for all fencers. The jackets are made from puncture resistant fabrics (such as ballistic nylon) and masks covering the head and neck are regularly inspected and are tested at every tournament. Finally, the weapons are blunt and flexible.
